49 is pretty fun, but can be crowded... are there any lesser known drives you can share?

Well for me any drive where the most beautiful scenery is scene is enjoyable. I love to just drive or ride and just look at the scenery- the trees, the fields, the houses, the view from a distance is breath taking . You imagine like you would as a child who may live in the houses you see off out in the fields and how deep the forest may go and where it may go? Or where does that lake or stream or river or pond may lead?

The "Delta Highway" (160) along the Sacramento River is one of my favorites. The views are great, but the small, interesting towns like Locke and Courtland (plus others) are really fun and a great way to learn about the history of the Valley and the Delta.
Take I-5 South, exit Hood-Franklin Road. Turn right at the end of the ramp, go about 2 miles to the intersection of Highway 160. Turn left, and enjoy the next 30-50 miles, depending on how many detours you take.
