A man died early Tuesday after being shot multiple times the night before, Sacramento County authorities said.

Deputies responded to the 6000 block of Northecrest Circle in Carmichael at about 9:30 p.m. Monday after several reports of multiple gunshots being heard.

Authorities said deputies found the victim, a black man in his early 20s, suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center, where he died several hours later.

Witnesses reported seeing several black men leaving the area in a maroon sedan.
