Driver Rams into Van Loaded with Kids
Citrus Heights police are searching for the driver of a truck they say intentionally ran into a van loaded with children.
Officers say a white full-size truck ran into the van at San Juan Avenue and Wisconsin Drive at about 3:25 p.m. Monday. The van was making a right turn onto San Juan Avenue when the pickup ran into the back of the van. Officers say the driver of the truck then stopped, backed up and struck the van a second time before leaving the scene.
The children in the van ranged in age between 6 and 11 years old. All eight of them and the driver suffered minor injuries. Three of the children were taken to Mercy San Juan Medical Center.
Citrus Heights police say the collision happened in heavy traffic. They are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything to call their traffic hotline at (916) 727-5575.
