Grateful star helps out UC Davis veterinarians

Quote
An octogenarian from Carmel, born Doris Mary Ann von Kappelhoff, has given $75,000 to a UC Davis scholarship fund for veterinary students, according to a press release this week from the university.

Generous to be sure.

But it pales next to millions given by other philanthropists to the university. So why the press release?

Because few benefactors have the star power of Kappelhoff -- better known as Doris Day.

It seems that Day, 83, the wholesome blond star of movies such as "Pillow Talk" and "Please Don't Eat the Daisies," has benefited through the years from UC Davis veterinary skill.

I always loved that Doris Day. Now I know some of WHY! Good for her, although she surely could have afforded more?

A lady generously donates money to what she must think is worthy and two posts in two mention the "paltry sum" she gives freely. HMMM. That stinks

It's more than I can give, and we don't know how much she gives elsewhere, so I say good for her! I don't think $75k is anything to look down upon regardless of who they are...

Good for you, I still love her. She is such a nice lady to boot. I am quite sure she give to many other animal charities, plus donates her time to all animal causes. And she is getting up there.
