UCD Hosts Prayer Vigil To Remember Va. Tech Victims
Some students at the University of California, Davis gathered Wednesday for a prayer vigil in response to Monday's massacre at Virginia Tech.
Participants in the vigil gathered on the second floor of the Memorial Union to remember the victims slain by accused gunman Cho Seung-Hui.
"There's absolutely an impact," said the Rev. Kristin Stoneking of the Cal Aggie Christian Association. "Campuses are close-knit communities. So, we identify with other campuses. When anything happens on our campus, there's a ripple effect and everyone feels it very personally."
The vigil was organized by several campus religious groups.
"We're hoping to offer a chance for people to express their emotions," Stoneking added.
A candlelight vigil is also planned on campus Friday night at 7 p.m.
