Peach Truck Turnover Makes for Messy Drive
Sacramento drivers on US-50 were faced with an unexpected slowdown Sunday when a truck hauling peaches lost its load, making for a peach-flavored traffic tieup, CHP officials said.
The truck was hauling a pair of trailers loaded with peaches on the southbound connector from Interstate 5 to eastbound 50 near X Street just before 10 a.m. Sunday when the driver said the load in his rear trailer shifted and toppled both trailers, CHP officer John Hagen said.
While the truck's cab stayed upright, the accident sent thousands of peaches across the roadway. The crates of peaches forced the closure of the Broadway exit from the highway for nearly 20 minutes.
