Sacramento To Add More Bike Lanes Downtown
The city of Sacramento has new plans to change several downtown streets. Among the state buildings and traffic of downtown are two wheels that mean so much to so many.
"The downtown is more bike friendly than car friendly," said Sandy Chang, downtown resident.
Sandy has lived in downtown for more than a year and rides her bike all over the place. She says the charm of downtown is proximity
The downside: getting around on a bike can be a hassle without bike lanes on every thruway. The cyclists want them and pedestrians want more access on sidewalks
Enter city council approved changes to seven city streets set to begin on Friday. That includes 19th street between R Street and X Street, which will go on a road diet. Three lanes narrow to two and bike lanes will appear on either side of the street
