Elk Grove Bone Marrow Drive for Toddler with Leukemia
Potential bone marrow donors turned out Sunday at Franklin High School in Elk Grove to try and help save the life of a two year old boy. 10 minutes of paperwork, and a simple swab of the cheek were all that was needed to determine if the volunteers were a suitable match with 2-year-old Harrison Leonardo.
Harrison lives in the San Francisco Bay area, and is hospitalized with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. He has been undergoing chemotherapy while the search for a bone marrow donor continues. A bone marrow donor must have an identical Human Leukocyte Antigens type.
