Elk Grove district looks into buying a school site
Landowner Paul Frank and Elk Grove Unified School District officials have returned to negotiations concerning a 14.4-acre school site after Frank withdrew an offer to donate the land last month.
About 30 Rancho Murieta residents, school officials and parents attended a public meeting Monday to discuss the turn of events.
District Superintendent Steven Ladd said the price will be determined after the land is appraised.
Some parents wanted the district to be more specific about a timeline for construction.
"As capable as our district is, this should happen more quickly," said parent and Rancho Murieta resident Anne Spencer.
The elementary school, to be built on the northwest corner of Stone House and Jackson roads, will replace Cosumnes River Elementary. It had been scheduled to open in 2008.
