U.S. Bank Tower Rises Above Capitol Mall

Quote
Sacramento's newest skyscraper, the U.S. Bank Tower, was put on display Thursday at a capping ceremony.

The newest addition to the Sacramento skyline will be 27 stories tall and will also have a sophisticated energy management system.

The last steel beam of the structure was put in place recently and it was time to show off the new office building.

Its the first skyscraper to be built on Capitol Mall in 11 years.

Developer David Taylor is no stranger to downtown development. Taylor has built other major landmarks in Sacramento, including the new City Hall, the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Esquire Plaza.

Taylor promises a major surprise that will be placed in front of the building when the project is complete.

I would have thought that people would stop making such tall buildings after 9/11 I have never really seen a use for buildings such as this other than maybe for hotels. But I guess that is the way to get several offices in one location without taking 2 mile of property.
