Body Found Hanging In Folsom Park

Quote
The body of a teenage boy was found hanging from a tree in a Folsom park on Tuesday morning, but police said foul play did not appear to be involved.

Authorities said the discovery was made by a passerby at about 9 a.m. in Big Foot Park, located near the intersection of Turn Pike and Hopfield drives.

The boy was identified as 16-year-old Andre Anderson, a student at Folsom High School.

Police said they are investigating the case as a suspicious death, adding that they are not ruling out suicide.

But some local residents said they worry that there may be more behind Anderson's death. Neighbor Rachael Wells said she heard a rumor that Anderson had been lynched.

The more I read about this incident on FolsomForum.com and MyFolsom.com, the more it looks like there is a lot of misinformation, whether intentional or not, being spread by the media and/or Folsom PD.

According to the person who found the boy's body, the legs were tied behind him. His shirt was off and a laptop he didn't own was found near by. Unfortunately, Folsom HS has informed students and parents that there was no foul play involved. Some third-party reports state that the school is calling it a suicide. In either case, it's obvious that foul play was involved. The man who discovered the body is in law enforcement. At least one of the boy's parents is a correctional officer.

There is definitely something going on in Folsom and residents aren't being told the whole story...

RIP Andre Sad

Folsom seems like such a safe community, but there has been several things in the news recently that's opening peoples' eyes... this murder, the murder/suicide of correctional officers, CHP officer's suicide, etc. This stuff can happen anywhere. I wonder what else isn't making the news...

wow the media really doesnt seem to have a grasp at what really happened and is carelessly throwing possibilities out there (like Ch. 13 having a link under the headline for the "choking game") for ratings. What a horrible thing for the family to experience and then they see the news!
here are some of the local news sites:

The latest update I have is that a member of FolsomForum.com spoke to Andre's father and relayed parts of the conversation (with his approval of course). Contrary to the news reports and their own statements, the parents have not ruled out murder. The father is upset w/ Folsom PD for their handling of the investigation and denial that their son's leg's were tied behind him. Supporters are now talking about naming the park after Andre, which sounds like a great idea to me...

hmm... this is an interesting story.  i am extremely curious to know how this ends.  honestly, even the possibility that there was a modern day lynching is enough to make me boil.

The following is a direct quote from Farley on FolsomForum.com after speaking w/ the man who found Andre's body...

Quote
Four different neighbors called 911 on Tuesday morning including Andre's mom. One neighbor called twice. The police response time was pathetic. It took 17 mins. before a Community Service (volunteers) Police car arrived with two female volunteers. They drove by the park and two people ran after the car waving their arms at the car. The two women parked and walked nonchalantly up to the scene. One of them made a call in.

The first actual POLICE to arrive was a motorcycle cop who was trying to pull over Andre's father for speeding.

Andre's father was at work at Folsom Prison when he got the call about Andre. He had to tell his superior, find a replacement, go through 4 security check points, leave the prison and drive home AND he still arrived at the park BEFORE Folsom POLICE DID.

The man who found the body tried twice to seek out a detective to make a statement. After 19 years in correctional work, he said he was totally unimpressed with the interview skills of the detective. They never have interviewed everyone involved or who knew about Andre.

The Park reopened 3 1/2 hours after the police arrived. He said he has done cell searches of crime scenes which took longer. The police have not gone door to door or interviewed Andre's friends and acquaintances.

The man who found the body and who was there for all of this and many, many more feel the police came to a pre-conceived conclusion instead of getting all of the facts.

As for Folsom PD, I can only relay one incident involving a family friend's son who was trying to help out a girl who was fighting w/ her boyfriend. The boyfriend left and the police arrested our friend's son instead! Whups!

Things are not looking well for the Folsom Police Department at this point... There has been a member of both Folsom web sites that has been in strong denial of any other possibility than what the media has reported. According to the FolsomForum admin, randb, who has contacted the FPD Public Information Officer (PIO), that member, "idunno" may or may not be the same motorcycle officer (Kurt Knudsen), or a relative of said officer, that arrived on the scene after Andre's father.

In the Folsom Telegraph, an update was provided w/ an account from Officer Knudsen, that stated that Andre's legs were bound to the tree trunk, which is, again, incorrect according to eye witnesses. At first, apparently, Knudson told the media that Andre's legs were not bound at all. Keep in mind that the person who found the body said that the legs were tied to his body in such a way that his feet were almost touching his butt.

Officer Knudsen stated that, after speaking to a representative of Andre's family, the family now believes the police - that there was no foul play and that it was an accident. However, the family states that the conversation never took place.

Regardless of the misinformation being spread by the police and media, for whatever reasons they may have, it is inexcusable for an officer to do so personally on a forum, by private message, and by email. An email was sent to a FolsomForum.com member from "idunno" and the email address provided automatically by the system is "kknud27@....com" and based on the IP address used to post by that member, both a personal home Internet connection and one belonging to the City of Folsom, CA were used.

Coroner's report for Folsom teen may take up to five months to complete

Quote
The final determination on the death of a Folsom teen found dead March 13 in a city park will wait on the coroner's report, which could take up to five months to complete, authorities said Wednesday. Meanwhile, a local restaurant said it will help donate proceeds from a day's operation to the memorial fund for the teen.

The owners of Folsom's Goodfellas Expressly Italian, a New York-style pasta and sandwich restaurant, will donate all of the eatery's proceeds Sunday afternoon to the Andre Anderson Memorial Fund. Anderson, 16, is the Folsom High School student who was found dead March 13 in a Folsom park, a few doors away from his home.

Tony Baratta, who owns the restaurant with his brothers, George and Joe, said all the proceeds from noon to 6 p.m. will go to the memorial fund. The restaurant is in a retail/office complex called Folsom Corners at 1760 Prairie City Road at Willard Drive. For more information, call (916) 357-5566.

In what has been dubbed The most important post of all re: Andre Anderson, a letter from the man who found Andre Anderson's body states that he feels very strongly now that it was indeed an accident that resulted from participating in a variation of the "Choking Game."

With this information and the determination of randb, admin of FolsomForum.com, based on what he's discovered, I've decided to not follow up on this further unless there is a drastic turn of events or something else is turned up in the autopsy.

RIP Andre.
