New Folsom Bridge Gets $14 Million from Feds
The federal government has chipped in $14 million for the new bridge in Folsom, Rep. John Doolittle's office announced Tuesday.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has already allocated nearly $49 million for the bridge. Ground was broken in February.
The four-lane bridge will be built below the Folsom Dam and just above Folsom Prison. It's hoped it will make the commute easier for thousands of motorists..
It will replace Folsom Dam Road which was closed because of security concerns after 9/11.
The $115 million bridge is scheduled to open by December 2008.
