Man Involved In Granite Bay Kidnapping Attempt
A kidnapping attempt in Granite Bay on Tuesday has prompted the Placer County Sheriff’s Department to ask for the public's help in finding the man allegedly responsible.
Officials said a man approached a 15-year-old boy as the youth left a friend's home on Eureka Road. The man asked the boy for money, but the boy told him he didn't have any.
The man then pushed the boy into a gray four-door sedan and attempted to back out of the driveway. Although the passenger door's interior panel was broken, the boy was able to crank the window down to reach the outside handle and open the door.
The man then drove southbound on Auburn Folsom Road, causing traffic to momentarily stop. He has not been seen since.
The sheriff's department said described the man as white, heavyset and 6 feet 1 inch tall. He also had a graying beard and a ruddy complexion. He was wearing brown sunglasses, a plaid, button-down shirt and a fishing hat. He was barefoot and smelled of alcohol. His vehicle was described as being in poor condition.
It is possible that he may have stopped by other homes or businesses in the Granite Bay area asking for money.
Anyone with information is urged to call Detective Bill Summers at 530-889-7843.
