Hi All,

My boyfriend and I are moving to the Sacramento area for May 1st. That gives us a month to find a place. We are both  from the east coast so we are new to CA. We can use your help!

We are looking to be near my boyfriends office at Arden and Howe. We will have a car so driving to that location is important. We want to be in a safe neighborhood. Other interests are to have things near by; we don't want to be in the boon docks. We would like to have access to shops, restaurants, a perhaps locations to ride bikes. Our plan is to rent an apt or house.

If you have words of advice or have worked with a Realtor you would recommend please feel free to pass along the information to us. Your insights are appreciated!

Thanks!

How close do you want to be to his work?  You do or don't have a car to get to Arden and Howe?

We will have a car. Regarding proximity to the office that is top prioirty. I would say 15-20 mins. driving would be the max. I am not sure what that would aquait to milage for the area since not famliar with traffic patterns. I know we are limiting ourselves by keeping it close to Arden and Howe. Are our expectations realistic given the description above? Any areas come to mind?

A great location that would suit your needs would be at the east end of Arden Way next to the river, in Carmichael, but much of that area can be pricey... It would be 20min away, safe neighborhoods and right next to bike trails. There are a couple small apt. complexes there and some rentals (houses & duplexes) down some of the side streets. Another area you could try is further down the river, closer to Howe, on or off of American River Drive or La Riviera, but there may be more crime in that area and is closer to Sac State University.

I have been recommended to look at Apartment Complexs: Park at Point West, Jefferson Place and Timberlake. Does anyone have insights regarding these complexes? Or does another name come to mind? Thanks for your suggestions!

Try Selby Ranch, a bit further but VERY nice.  Point west is expensive and a bit ghettor (if i remembe the place correctly) Timberlake is very nice with large trees and I am not firmiliar with Jefferson Place.
