Bush wants to send more troops to Iraq. Military officials state that it could be as many as 20,000 more! What this means is that they will have to extend the deployment of troops already there and sending more over that were scheduled to deploy later. It, apparently, also means that 3,003 dead American soldiers is not enough for Bush.

The number of troops we have in Iraq has no bearing on what the outcome will be except in a negative way. We are in a war that we cannot win. We don't even know who or why we fight. Someone suggested to me that we just start bombing the crap out of the people there, and it would scare them into submission. What a load.  Those are people that routinely strap bombs to their chests. How do you scare someone that has those traits?

I, though, can't blame this mess on Bush. He had a hand, in fact, very few people in any branch of government voted against this war, and it was very popular for quite a long time. As with most of my thoughts, the responsibility is ours and ours alone, and Bush is one of us, so I guess he's as much to blame as me, but not more. We the People put him in office

I completely agree that it's a war we cannot win and they knew this beforehand from war game scenarios from 1999 using many many more troops. And yes the bombing idea is a complete "load" as you put it. We've been there and done that and they bomb us right back on their own roads - doesn't cost them billions to do it either.

However, I do place most of the blame on Bush and his administration. He wanted to go to war with Iraq & just needed an excuse. The vast majority of those who voted for the war did so on false information and blatant lies provided by the administration. This is evidenced by so many who are now against the war & state that they would have been from the beginning had they been provided with real data. And I can blame the Bush Administration more than ever now - everyone knows more of the facts, yet they still want to send more troops.

BTW, I didn't put him in office. I didn't vote for him.

I meant that collectively. I didn't vote for him either, but I also did not do a much as I might have to insure he was not elected, therefore I must take blame for the mess we are in.

Actually I don't think the intelligence was so much doctored by the administration as it was by the military/industrial complex, who runs our world anyway. The Bush party was an easy one for them to take over, but they do the same to any Democrat power team too, witness our mess in Cuba and Vietnam with our Democrat stalwarts Kennedy and Johnson. And I am truly bi-partisan, I dislike both major parties equally immensely. I vote Green or Libertarian in almost every case. I have voted, in the past, for republicans, never, that I remember, for a Democrat. And yes, I voted for Nixon. That's life!

Bush On Iraq: 'I've Made My Decision'

Quote
Members of the House and Senate are preparing nonbinding resolutions opposing the deployment of more U.S. troops to Iraq, but President George W. Bush said it won't stop him from going ahead with it.

In an interview Sunday on CBS' "60 Minutes," Bush said he understands that Congress could try to stop him. But he said, "I've made my decision."

Correct, the total number of troops, has no bearing on the out come, as far as I am concerned.
