Federal authorities say the building boom in Natomas has to stop until the levees are made stronger. But Sacramento City officials say the levees are strong enough and the building should continue.

"I like it, it's nice. The weather's great over here," said Collin Cornwell, a Natomas resident.

Collin has no complaints about the city. He likes the neighborhoods, restaurants, parks and the new construction.

"I think it's really good. I think growth is always a good thing," said Cornwell.

Many say all this development is dangerous, considering the levees are what protects the city from the rivers. Some say it doesn't offer 100-year flood protection.

The city is moving forward this evening, and they'll consider asking FEMA to allow the construction in Natomas to continue and require homeowners to buy flood insurance until levee repairs are complete.
