A young man was recovered by rescue divers early Sunday morning from a man-made lake at Natomas Regional Park.

According to Sacramento Fire Department, he and another young man attempted to swim from the shore to an island about 50 yards off shore. For an unknown reason, the victim struggled and went under.

Crews searched the lake for several hours and recovered the body at 4:15 a.m.

The second young man was rescued off of the island and was hospitalized.

It is unknown as to why the two attempted to swim to the island.
