Man Killed in Sacramento's Third Gang-Related Shooting This Week
Sacramento County investigators are looking into the third apparent gang-related homicide in three days. The most recent happened Wednesday night when an 18-year-old man was shot near Gilman Way and David Drive in the North Highlands area, according to Sacramento Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Tim Curran.
A number of people were in the area at about 10:25 p.m. when the shooting happened, but they all told investigators they didn't actually see it. However, deputies believe the shots were fired from a small white vehicle, possibly a Saturn with chrome wheels.
Neighbors took the man to Mercy San Juan Hospital where he died.
Investigators don't know what prompted the shooting, Curran said they suspect it is gang-related.
Anyone with information is urged to call sheriff’s homicide detectives at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
