Police Crack Down On North Highlands Crime
Sacramento County sheriff's deputies turned out in force in North Highlands Wednesday to conduct hundreds of traffic stops and search for residents with outstanding warrants.
Sacramento authorities called the effort "Operation: Clean Sweep." Dozens of arrests were made in a couple of hours.
The goal was to reduce gang- and drug-related violent crime which they said is on the rise, Deputy Erik Hobbs said.
North Highlands resident John Rodgers said he agrees with the program.
"We need it," Rodgers said. "People are out of control."
