Sacramento Police Investigate Infant's Death
Just hours after being hospitalized under circumstances Sacramento police investigators deemed suspicious, a North Sacramento infant was pronounced dead at the UC Davis Medical Center early Sunday.
The eight-month-old boy was rushed to the hospital around 1:45 p.m. Saturday after emergency personnel found the child in a vegetative state. The baby's uncle called 911 from a North Sacramento apartment on the 1000 block of Dixieanne Avenue, reporting the child was unresponsive.
Sacramento Police Sgt. Matt Young said the infant died early Sunday. An initial examination showed to apparent cause of the child's death.
The child's mother and aunt were also in the home when firefighters arrived. Young said the baby showed no visible signs of trauma.
Family members were being interviewed as part of the investigation.
