Since this site is still relatively young and growing, it's hard to justify spending much, if anything, on offline advertising, which would probably help us out greatly. Anything to reach the most eyeballs is extremely expensive: TV, radio, newspaper, magazine, billboards, etc. I hope to provide a much cheaper option, by comparison, w/ SacForums.com & any related sites.

Thank you for the input. Yes, you must be active to get motion. This I understand. Hand to hand marketing is great and very time consuming. We live in a tech world and print is dead. Yet we have salespeople coming out of the wood work trying to sell us the newest print vehicle and promising us this great ROI. Then we have every marketing company in the world telling us that they can optimize our site and help us with our page ranking. It seems like a bunch of people are driving us from one bowl to the next bowl. Little fish, big fish

Yes, I totally agree. Most of us were brought up with the old saying from our elders, "nothing worth while is easy", this includes our clients.

What I am talking about is trust. Trust is earned over time. Trust is much more challenging to gain then it was 20 years ago. It seems some people will say and do what ever they can to get a deal. The current mortgage crisis is a perfect example of a scandal that tears the consumer down. The overall outcome is higher brick walls for you and I as the consumer.

What has always worked for me to gain trust is to always look at my motive. Why am I taking this particular action? What is "my" ultimate reward? Is it a selfish act or is totally authentic? Is it truly intened for the person I have in mind or is it for Darek?

Most of us understand the act of manilpulation, right? We are in the video store with our loved one and the one with the best story wins the pick of the night. My wife usually wins. She says "Darek, we always watch what you want" with that said time after time again over the past twenty years, we wind up watching another sex in the city type flick.

This act, most of the time works. If not, at least we can sleep at night. When people pick up on this true self, the word travels. We want to trust, it is in our nature. We were trained, not to trust. But we as business owners can re-traine the consumer to begin to trust again. No matter what we do, there is always going to be the bad seed.
