Digging for answers, all I can find are rumors about this being initiated by a domestic dispute - he went to the dorm, killed his girlfriend and one other, ran away and struck again, shooting people in classrooms two hours later... 29 others were taken to four area hospitals for injuries.

I'm really touched by the individual stories like the professor who had survived the Holocaust, moved to the US, taught and cared enough for his students to save their lives. He heard the gun shots getting closer and held the door closed while his students got out through the windows. Unfortunately, he was shot through the door and killed. Then there were the students who baracaded the door with a table and saved everyone in the classroom. The gunman shot through the door, missed, couldn't break in and moved on...... I just wish there was someone there to stop him. As much as I dislike guns myself, I can't help but think that many more lives would have been saved
