Verizon is at it again! Last year we told you how Verizon Wireless was interfering with its workers' rights to form unions. Now Verizon’s business division is ignoring its employees’ decision to form a union.
A majority of Verizon Business technicians in the Northeast chose to form a union through the "majority sign-up" process recently. But the company still hasn’t moved to recognize the workers’ union. Considering Verizon’s lousy reputation on workers’ rights, we’re skeptical the company will act quickly. So we have to speak up loud and clear to protest so Verizon can hear us! So far, over 13,000 have written to Verizon -- will you join them?
http://action.americanrightsatwork.org/campaign/vzb/Verizon has the ability to do the right thing: the company boasted a 26 percent increase in revenue this year. Moreover, employees at Verizon’s "landline" division—who do identical work—have union representation. 85,000 of them, in fact! Hard-working men and women at Verizon Business simply desire what their colleagues have—the right to have a say in their working conditions, some job security, and protection from unfair treatment and firings.
Whether you’re a customer of Verizon or not—please send a letter to the President of Verizon Business John Killian to let him know you support these workers and they should have a real voice at work.
We need to send a strong signal to the company that it should honor its workers' union—and not just in the Northeast. Thousands of Verizon Business employees across the country are starting to form unions. Let's help these technicians get their wish—without having to struggle so hard to do so.
Thank you for taking action and standing up for the rights of Verizon workers!
