Why is this ok? After reading around the forums I have seen people banned and edited posts over such things as mentioning their company or web site even though I have seen you spam a ticket web site and the dating link at the top is a bunch of sites that spam everywhere we go... you're not helping Eric. I'm glad this post is ok I think if you were a little easier on people and maybe warned them before banning, editing and locking threads then these forums might have more activity. I'm sorry if I sound rude this is a nice site and I hope more members become active just talk to people before censoring them and give them a chance to fix it or explain.

Welcome to the site Smiley

randb and I have worked together in various capacities and have helped each other out. For that reason, I allowed him to let people know about his site. He also knows not to spam it everywhere and be obnoxious.

The only people I have banned have made it clear that the only reason they are here is to spam and have no desire to truly help SacForums or its members unless they get something out of it. Far more often than not, I will contact the member and let them know why I edited or removed a post. When I remove a post, it goes into a "recycle bin" where I can restore it if I need to. And, basically, my policy is to keep things fair for site sponsors and enjoyable for members. I've run many sites, several of which have forums, and keeping spam under control is appreciated by members and sponsors alike. The only people who see it as a problem are those who want to spam.

As for any links I post, that is not spamming. Spamming is unsolicited commercial communication. Since I pay the bills, I try to recoup some of the costs associated w/ running the site. Advertising here is not expensive. It's about a dollar a day. Or, I may work out another arrangement at my discretion, as the site owner. Sometimes I lose money, sometimes I make money. I prefer to be able to put money back into the site.

Hey Eric,

I was searching for Sacramento forums and came across sacforums.com.  I read the post regarding the gentlemen that posted a link and his new photography company and yes you have Veto power and I appreciate how you handled the reply. I have a team of people looking for appropriate ways to do online advertising for our company. It's tuff out there and we have really created something that is perfect for the market and the economic struggles that we are going through. So many people have thrown there values in the toilet to get new business that is has done massive damage to those that are for real. There only seems to be two forms of advertising left for a business owner, big branding campaigns or word of mouth. Think about it? Everything else is washed up, print, coupons, popup ads pay per lcik text ads, all of these forms of advertising are done. the people do not want to see this stuff anymore or it is just to costly for the small business owner. Forums can provide a great vehicle to let people know that you have something that may be of value to them, but to many people have missused this vehicle and know what. I think if it is clean and not threatening and no MLM's, but true value. This may even be a nice group to start. As the forum moderator do you have any suggenstions?

Thanks Darek

Thanks for the reply Darek! As far as advertising goes, we have a few options available including regular banner advertising or getting your own sponsor forum. More info here:

What about some sort of shared cost advertising?  I've thought about getting together with others to share the cost of a mailer.  Does direct mail work?  I will pay attention to a postcard in the mail.  Does anyone else or is that a waste of money?

BTW - My photography site has nothing to with a business or making money.  I love photography and just thought it would be fun to run a site like that.  Unfortunately I have spread myself pretty thin right now and do not have time to promote the site much.
