After missing the NBA playoffs for the first time in nine seasons, rookie head coach Eric Musselman will reportedly not return to the team next year, according to published reports.

In Wednesday's Sacramento Bee, Kings beat writer Sam Amick cited numerous sources close to the team stating Musselman would not return to his courtside position with the Kings for the 2007-2008 season.

The Kings finished their season Wednesday night, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers 117-106. Musselman's debut season as the team's leader produced a disappointing 33-49 record, 11 fewer wins than the team had in Rick Adelman's final season as head coach last year.

Following Wednesday's loss, Musselman said he would be in his office Thursday conducting exit interviews with the players. A Kings representative Kings' team president Geoff Petrie was "in meetings all day (Thursday)and into tomorrow."
