NBA Says They Won't Finance New Kings Arena
The NBA is keeping plans for a new Sacramento arena under wraps, but they are denying reports that they'll be the ones financing a new facility for the Kings.
CBS13 spoke with the man that the NBA has hired to get an arena deal done. He says only a handful of people know what the current arena discussions are.
The NBA's seven month search for money to build a new Kings arena is nearly complete. The NBA tells CBS13 it has whittled down its options to several scenarios. David Stern announced the start of the league's search in December.
The NBA denies it will pay for an arena on its own, but tells CBS13 it is planning to announce a location and financing structure before next season starts. Sacramento city leaders will not speak on camera about negotiations.
The 400 acres at Cal Expo is one location the NBA has shown recent interest. That's something officials at Cal Expo say is preliminary.
