What a sick and deplorable thing for the Sacramento Bee to do! I am definitely canceling my subscription because of this. I read in the comments that one woman who had been able to hid from her abusive ex husband has already been found an contacted by him! Victims' blood will be on the Bee's hands!
2  General Discussion / Movies / What's the last movie you saw? on: July 18, 2007, 02:12:11 PM
I watched Borat last weekend. It was really offensive, but it's more telling of how ignorant many Americans are. It was hilarious though  ROFL
3  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Sacramento Discussion / Strange weather today on: July 18, 2007, 01:33:07 PM
This morning we had a nice break from the normal heat! I wish I could have stayed home and worked in the yard! Mid 70s! This is Bay Area type weather Big Grin
4  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Sacramento Discussion / Re: How Walkable is Your Neighborhood? on: July 18, 2007, 01:19:47 PM
That actually seems pretty high for the suburbs. Mine is down in the low thirties. I wonder how high Downtown and Midtown addresses are!
5  General Discussion / Movies / Re: Footloose remake?!? seriously?? on: July 18, 2007, 11:48:53 AM
I think this would be considered legalized torture.
6  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Carmichael / Re: Turn lane at Arden and Mission on: July 18, 2007, 11:46:26 AM
It looks like people are getting over it. I haven't seen anyone do it since.
7  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Arden / Arcade / CHP on Marconi on: July 18, 2007, 11:45:02 AM
I've seen the signs and radar displays on Marconi showing that CHP is going to be cracking down in that area. Watch your speed Wink
8  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Carmichael / Re: West Nile Infected Mosquitoes Found In Wilton, Carmichael on: July 18, 2007, 11:36:27 AM
Good tips from the link above & FightTheBite.net:

Follow the 7 Ds

DRAIN any standing water that may produce mosquitoes.

DAWN and DUSK are times to avoid. These are the times when mosquitoes are most active.

DRESS appropriately by wearing long sleeves and pants when outdoors.

DEFEND yourself against mosquitoes by using an effective insect repellent, such as DEET, Picaridin or Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus. Make sure you follow all label directions!

DOOR and window screens should be in good working condition. This will prevent mosquitoes from entering your home.

DISTRICT personnel are available to address any mosquito problem you may be experiencing by calling 1-800-429-1022.

Thanks! I called, but no answer. It didn't seem worth leaving a message for. Wink
10  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Folsom / Re: Mama Nardis on: July 02, 2007, 02:37:26 PM
Try Giovanni's (I think) at Loehmann's Plaza - Fair Oaks and Fulton. They have a lunch special that's a pretty good deal, but the pizza is very greasy IMO
11  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Carmichael / Recycling? on: June 21, 2007, 04:37:01 PM
Does anyone else here take cans and plastic bottles to recycling centers? If so, where? And do they require you to remove the caps from the plastic bottles? The closest place to our house does, but I've been told that others do not. Would I lose $$ by not including those caps? Sorry if these are weird questions. I've been recycling through the county, but wouldn't mind having a little mad money from cans & plastic Smiley
12  General Discussion / Off Topic / Re: Optical Illusion on: June 21, 2007, 03:55:01 PM
I've seen that before. It's pretty cool Smiley
13  General Discussion / Off Topic / Re: Pet Peeves? on: June 21, 2007, 03:51:09 PM
obviously, I hate it when people leave their garbage cans out!

Here's something that got on my nerves today. I was searching Google for a product and most of the results were for eBay or price comparison sites. What made it worse is that none of those sites, including eBay, had the product!

15  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Global / Re: Global Warming? Not Even Close on: June 21, 2007, 03:44:50 PM
What, you don't like to cut LA air with a knife?

Seriously, I'm sick of the whole global warming label/issue. More important to me is the depletion of fossil fuels and the need for cleaner air, less acid rain, etc.
