16  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Sacramento Discussion / Re: Information on Melanie Sill of the Sacramento Bee on: March 17, 2008, 02:29:39 PM
The Bee's circulation and revenue are down according to this, part of McClatchy's SEC filing.

2007
Daily: 270,697
Sunday: 312,706
Revenue: 211,035 (dollars in thousands)

2006
Daily: 283,561
Sunday: 323,271
Revenue: 254,741 (dollars in thousands)

I also saw someone report that Ms. Sill makes over $200k/yr, but I can't find that in McClatchy's Investor Relations section.

Here's an interesting tidbit about Melanie Sill:

I see the Bee has hired Melanie Sill as their new editor. She was the guilt presuming columnist at the Raleigh News and Observer who wrote the infamous "We know you know" column at the beginning of the Duke non rape, non assault - lets hang the white boys hoax. Her inflammatory writing was instrumental in igniting the racial firestorm and to hell with due process ethic with which DA Nifong was able to perpetuate this criminal conspiracy. Only in the MSM could such incometance be rewarded with a promotion.

Two more opinion pieces from Melanie Sill and Armando Acuna, who apparently has his lips permanently affixed to Melanie's ass. They seriously can't let this die!! I bet their traffic spiked to the 4million hits they claim and is now at a fraction of that, so they need to keep bringing up this issue in an effort to keep their failing rag afloat. It's so pathetic!

Melanie's 3/16/08 Opinion:

This hack posted a new opinion piece where he kisses Melanie Sill's ass. It's so obvious that they keep bringing up this issue so they get more traffic to sacbee.com. It's freakin pathetic!!!

I don't know why I didn't come across this before, but this would be Melanie Sill's direct boss:

Janis Heaphy, Publisher & President

They keep adding an opinion piece or editorial every day so this issue won't leave the foreground of their sleazy tabloid rag.

UPDATE: I just found out that the protest is not at the address stated in the letter from SEIU, but has been changed to the corner of 21st and Q, where the SacBee building is located.

I just saw this about a Rate-My-Cop site that law enforcement is furious about. They're going to try to get legislation passed to have the site taken down...

http://www.RateMyCop.com

The site's registrar and host, GoDaddy.com, removed the site. The owner will just move it to another host...

Stop going to SacBee.com unless absolutely necessary!

The latest opinion piece added to sacbee.com gloats over the huge spike in traffic their site has received because of this. Undoubtedly, a huge percent is state workers, or people like us, who will not support their advertisers. Unfortunately, the way it works is that the Bee can now say that their ads will be in front of X number of visitors instead of Y. We want to stop providing them this traffic, so it goes well below average and give them a new variable, Z Wink
30  Sacramento, CA Discussion / Sacramento Discussion / Re: WEAVE: Database Puts State Workers at Risk on: March 11, 2008, 06:29:17 AM
It looks like SacBee listened to some of our complaints. Unfortunately, all it did was make the database actually usable. There's a new news story on the front page and, obviously, this update was done to keep it there, in the public eye. You can now search by department and classification. It still lists names. It's still dangerous.
