Does anyone know if there is any problem with renting an apartment online? We would be able to fully pay a short lease upfront. Do most places require that you have jobs in Sacramento or are there any other requirements?

We are driving from Boston to Sacramento in October and we have some questions to people who have done a similar trip or anybody who might know.

1. Did you set up the hotels beforehand?
2. Is there a way to make a deal with a hotel chain?
3. We have Triple A -- would they be helpful?
4. We would appreciate any other suggestions you may have.

Thanks for the welcome. Anybody know the approxiamate time it takes to drive from Davis to downtown Sacramento or to San Francisco. Also, I think I meant mid-town not downtown.

Not sure, right now leaning toward downtown area or Davis. We would like to have access to the center of Sacramento and relatively short driving access to SF.
