The California Supreme Court has blocked the development of about 6,000 rural acres in Rancho Cordova.

The court ruled that environmental reviews for the 22,000 residential units was inadequate.

The justices said AKT Development's proposal for Sacramento County needed more studies on future water sources because the deal does not adequately explain how long-term demand will be met.
