Five teenagers were injured in a car crash in Rio Linda Wednesday following a police pursuit, authorities said.

Officials said the incident may have started with a truancy check.

Investigators said the car containing the youths was spotted by a Grant Joint Union High School District police officer and a pursuit started.

The car containing the youths sideswiped at least one other vehicle, eventually crashing into another car near the intersection of 16th and E streets at about 10 a.m.
