Parents of a boy seriously beaten by bullies this week at Silverado Middle School school are calling on school officials to curb bad behavior on campus.

"They do pretty much anything they can to hurt somebody until they get caught," said student Justin Hughes, describing his attackers and the bloody assault he suffered Wednesday during his physical education class.

Hughes and several other students on campus have been victimized by the same group to bullies for some time, said his father, Mark Hughes.

In the latest assault, Hughes suffered gum damage and had three teeth knocked out of place. He sought treatment at an emergency clinic and then had to see a dental surgeon to repair the damage.

Mark Hughes said he is angry and wants to see the bullies expelled from school.

"I've gotten no help from the school," he said. "I feel that it's their job to provide a safe environment for the children, and it's not happening."
