A home-schooled Roseville 6th grader has this very tough contest under a spell, and very much under control, for the second year in a row. Josephine Kao won the Central Valley Spelling Bee Championship, and that's pretty incredible.

There was nothing irreptitious about the way the girl with her nose in the dictionary performed at this year's spelling bee.

The home-schooled 6th grader may have had an irreptitious look to her, but it was more like confidence.

“Most of the words I got actually, all of the words I got I knew, so I was really happy about that…you know hard work usually pays off,” says Kao.
