Roseville Officer Wounded in Shootout with Robber Sues Over Forced Retirement
A 26-year veteran of the Roseville Police Department claims he was forced into retirement because of an eye injury from a shootout seven years earlier.
David Braafladt, 53, retired as a captain in 2005 after he lost vision in his left eye. In a suit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Sacramento, Braafladt claims his retirement was involuntary.
Braafladt suffered wounds to his hand, wrist, and left eye during a shootout with a suspected bank robber on April 9, 1998. The suspect was killed.
