Air Force Week Roars to Life Over Sacramento
Air Force fighting jets roared over the State Capitol this morning. The event is part of Air Force Week, a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force.
Sacramento is just one of six cities nationwide to host event in honor of the anniversary. Members of the Air Force were on-hand mingling with curious children and visitors and talking about the importance of the Air Force in today's society.
Marcus Sabala says he brought his kids out to the event so they can learn what sacrifices military men and women make for this country.
Military officials say airmen from California play a particularly important role. About 330,000 men and women are in active duty nationwide.
This morning's event featured a C-5 and a couple F-16s flying overhead.
Air Force Week wraps up with a big event this weekend. The California Capital Air Show at Mather Airport is Saturday and Sunday. The field opens at 10 a.m.
