A crash involving a big rig and a motorcycle is snarling traffic on Interstate 80 in Sacramento.

The crash happened about 7:45 a.m. in the westbound lanes near Truxel Road.

KCRA 3's John Hamilton in LiveCopter 3 HD reported that the trouble started in the eastbound lanes, when the big rig tangled with a passenger car and crossed over into westbound traffic, coming to rest on the shoulder of the roadway.

The motorcyclist was reported to be down in the roadway, but it's unclear how seriously the rider was injured.

Traffic delays are reported in both directions of I-80 in the area.
