A lot of people are wondering if Copeland Sports is going out of business & there seems to be some confusion as to whether it's just a couple of stores or if it's company wide... I've been told by a Copeland's employee that it's just the Carmichael and Downtown Plaza stores. Apparently, it's because the Carmichael store doesn't get enough traffic & the the Downtown store has too much theft. I used to work at the Carmichael store (over 10 yrs ago... whoa!) and it was always slow. We had time to rollerblade, play hockey, basketball, etc. I covered a shift at the Downtown Plaza store during a Thursday Night Market & it was out of control! There was no way to keep an eye on everyone, and even when I've been in there on any other day of the week, it's pretty busy. I know other stores in Downtown Plaza experience a fair amount of crime as well... Also, it looks like there's a new Copeland Sports that opened in Walnut Creek. There's still a store in Roseville & one up in Chico.
