There's a site I just learned about that determines the "walkability" of your neighborhood based on the the number of stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc. near your address. Mine only got a 42 out of 100, but I'm sure that's typical of the 'burbs

What's your Walk Score?

I have no doubt that there are places, closer to the American River or in less developed areas of Placer Co. for example, that have much lower scores. Before I entered my data I didn't know what the criteria was. I thought, our neighborhood is a nice one to walk the dog in..., but obviously that's not the "walkability" they have in mind...

so does this just bassicly add points for how near it all is to each other or does it actually take into account the fact that some places arnt as well lit etc?
