There's a site I just learned about that determines the "walkability" of your neighborhood based on the the number of stores, restaurants, schools, parks, etc. near your address. Mine only got a 42 out of 100, but I'm sure that's typical of the 'burbs Wink

That actually seems pretty high for the suburbs. Mine is down in the low thirties. I wonder how high Downtown and Midtown addresses are!

I have no doubt that there are places, closer to the American River or in less developed areas of Placer Co. for example, that have much lower scores. Before I entered my data I didn't know what the criteria was. I thought, our neighborhood is a nice one to walk the dog in..., but obviously that's not the "walkability" they have in mind...

Apparently they got too much traffic and the site isn't usable right now, although I'm pretty sure that my neighborhood counts as a "walker's paradise."  I'm out stomping the ground every day that the weather permits, and some when it doesn't. Midtown's just good for walking.

so does this just bassicly add points for how near it all is to each other or does it actually take into account the fact that some places arnt as well lit etc?
