Stop going to SacBee.com unless absolutely necessary!

The latest opinion piece added to sacbee.com gloats over the huge spike in traffic their site has received because of this. Undoubtedly, a huge percent is state workers, or people like us, who will not support their advertisers. Unfortunately, the way it works is that the Bee can now say that their ads will be in front of X number of visitors instead of Y. We want to stop providing them this traffic, so it goes well below average and give them a new variable, Z Wink

I've been viewing SacBee.com with an ad blocker on... I used another computer and boy could I tell a difference. SacBee is just an adwhore! There were ads popping up, covering content, and all over the place. There are far more ads than anything of "value" and I use that term loosely.

It's so obvious they're in trouble! Now they're cutting staff. Unfortunately, it won't be any of the editors.

The protest is today! Anyone going? Unfortunately, I have a Dr's appt. I can't reschedule Sad

UPDATE: I just found out that the protest is not at the address stated in the letter from SEIU, but has been changed to the corner of 21st and Q, where the SacBee building is located.

I don't know why I didn't come across this before, but this would be Melanie Sill's direct boss:

Janis Heaphy, Publisher & President
email is most likely jheaphy@sacbee.com

Immediately following the listing of names and locations in the database, I received an anonymous email at my job. Basically, I was instructed to give someone with the email of "deadlykillers@gmail.com" $15,000, as soon as they contacted me again, in return for not killing me and I get to have the information on who had paid these people to do the job (of killing me). The CHP took the report and is investigating it as a computer crime, but it is a terroristic threat and extortion in my book. The entire staff of the Sacramento Bee has conspired so that I am no longer secure in my home or person, a Constitutional right.  Any lawyers in the house? (I have saved the email, and yes I am a State employee.

I joined this forum because of my approval for the downfall of the Sacbee. I have never liked this newspaper and this story just shows how far off the media is from reporting and how much they are into their own agenda.

There is a difference between someone being able to do their own search to get a name and a newspaper bringing together many resources to give all the details at one central location. I guess we can just get rid of the three branches of government and dissolve them into one central branch, afterall we all know their names, jobs, and salaries but it is SO hard having to go to so many different websites to look them up.

I was going to sue the Sacbee personally but I am happy to know my wife's union is doing it instead. I guess we do have a need for unions afterall, to keep us safe from gold digging gossup columnists at the Sacbee.
