Sacramento to Go Wireless
Sacramento will go wireless. On Thursday night the City Council approved a resolution to establish a wireless broadband network in the city.
Sacramento Metro Connect will establish a 100-square-mile service area, which will cover about 95 percent of the city. That should allow anyone with a wireless connection to log on to the Web.
The company plans to offer an ad-based service that would be free to customers as well as different levels of fee-based services.
The service is expected to be 25 times faster than dial-up.
