On October 14, 2006, Bob and Angela Kott celebrated the arrival of their son, Trevor.  On October 15, 2006, the day after he was born, little Trevor was diagnosed with congenital acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

Although he was initially sent home with no hope, Trevor has bravely recovered from his fourth round of chemotherapy – and while Trevor was clinically in remission after the first round, he experienced a relapse – a return of the cancer after the third round of chemotherapy – confirmed by a bone marrow test on March 5, 2007. Given this relapse, Trevor’s only hope for a medical cure is a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, a bone marrow aspirate done April 3, 2007 revealed that his marrow contained 70 percent cancer cells. He started his fifth round of chemotherapy on April 4th in the hopes of getting him in remission.

On March 15, the doctors advised that no donor has been found.  Trevor’s need is urgent.  His life depends on finding a matched bone marrow donor in the next six to eight weeks.  Would you consider registering as a possible donor to help Trevor or another child like him?

It’s very easy.   All that is required to register is a simple swab from inside your mouth.  No needles are involved.  Will you take this simple first step to possibly save a life?  Please think about what a huge blessing it would be to the Kott family or any other family with a child suffering from leukemia to have a friend (or stranger) provide such a wonderful gift.

You can register as a bone marrow donor at your local blood bank (you don’t need to give blood).  To find the nearest location, go to:
http://www.aabb.org/Content/Donate_Blood/Where_to_Donate/

Alternatively, you can go through the National Marrow Donor Program and register:  http://www.marrow.org/HELP/Join_the_Registry/Join_Now/join_now.html?src=text

Time is short!  Please pick up the phone, go to your local blood center, or visit the National Marrow Donor Program web site today!

On behalf of the Kott family and all leukemia patients -- Thank you for registering – and thank you for your prayers.   More information on Trevor will be posted soon at www.trevorkott.com

I just saw on News10.net that Trevor has taken a turn for the worse. Can this get any more heartbreaking? Sad

The baby boy from Cameron Park who has inspired thousands to join the national bone marrow registry is being given just days to live.

Trevor Kott's mother, Angela Kott, has been keeping people all over the country updated on her son's condition through a daily blog. Monday evening Kott shared some bad news.

"Dr. Kiley originally told us this morning that Trevor had as little as 24 hours to live, maybe to this weekend," wrote Kott.

Leukemia Claims Baby Trevor Sad

Quote
The baby boy from Cameron Park who inspired thousands to join the national bone marrow registry has died.

Trevor Kott passed away at 8 a.m. at the Kaiser hospital in Sacramento.

Trevor was born October 14. The next day he was diagnosed with a very rare form of leukemia. A bone marrow transplant was his only hope for survival.

Despite numerous drives held in Trevor's name all over the nation, a donor could not been found.

Trevor's mother, Angela Kott kept an online blog. This morning she wrote:

"I thought my heart would be broken, but instead I realize how much fuller it is for having the privilege to have been Trevor's mom. We have all been praying for a miracle together, but as Pat reminded me, the miracle happened the day Trevor was born. He has given so much in his short life, I know he was sent here so we all could witness life in its purest form. I don't have a lot of energy left to write much more, but I felt it was important for Trevor for everyone to look up on this bright sunny day and watch Trevor soar. My precious baby peacefully started his journey to heaven at around 8 o'clock this morning."

This very sorry to hear. it must have been far worse than one can really describe in words. My prayers are with the family at this time, it will be a long road back emotionally, but know that we all care.

Tree Planted in Memory of Trevor Kott

Quote
Trevor Kott and his battle with leukemia were remembered Wednesday in Cameron Park.

A tree was planted at Blue Oak Elementary School in memory of the infant who died in April. Trevor's sisters Kendall and Lauren attend the school. They joined their parents for the ceremony.

The family hopes the growing red bud tree will be a symbol of their commitment to expanding the bone marrow registry.

"We feel like our work for raising awareness for blood cancers and the marrow registry is something that's going to grow as well, and we feel like that work of Trevor is just begun," said Trevor's father, Bob Kott.

You can become part of the bone marrow registry during the annual News10 blood donor day on July 13.

Donors who come to the donor site at News10 studios at 400 Broadway in Sacramento will get a free donor swab courtesy of BloodSource.
