My family and I are moving to Sacramento next year, and will probably be buying a house.  How is the neighborhood near UCDavis Medical Center, downtown? Smiley

UC Davis Medical Center is kind of in between several different neighborhoods. Just to the north is a neighborhood called Elmhurst, along T Street, which is very nice and rather expensive. Just to the south, on the other side of Stockton Boulevard, is a neighborhood called Oak Park, which has a bad history but it's a lot nicer than it used to be. The area between Stockton Boulevard and Sacramento High is starting to be known as the "Med Center neighborhood" because so many recent home buyers there were employees at the big cluster of nearby hospitals. South of Broadway the neighborhood gets rougher, but it's not particularly bad.

The Med Center isn't really downtown, it is a couple of miles east of downtown surrounded by residential neighborhoods, but it is generally considered in the central city.
