It's called "gate jumping," and it's one of the most dangerous driving maneuvers on Sacramento streets – where impatient motorists dodge around rail crossing safety gates to beat a coming train.

Sacramento light-rail crash devastates family


Domonick Williams grew worried when his parents were late dropping off his 22-month-old son. When he saw a TV news report Saturday evening about a deadly crash between a vehicle and a light-rail train, it didn't even cross his mind that his family could be involved.

Brown rejects high-speed rail cost estimate of $100 billion

Light-rail track extension to close stations, corner
