Alcohol Played Role In Sacramento SUV Crash, Police Say
Alcohol likely played a role when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a railroad crossing arm in south Sacramento early Friday, police said.
Authorities said the wreck took place at about 2:30 a.m. on Fruitridge Road just east of 24th Street.
A Chevrolet SUV hit the crossing arm. The arm was not down when the wreck occurred, but the impact triggered the lights to flash and the arm came down and blocked the road.
Police said the driver of the SUV ran away and was found passed out about a quarter-mile away.
