Patients and staff were evacuated from a south Sacramento medical center for several hours Monday afternoon following the toxic release of a gas produced when chlorine bleach was mixed with a cleaning product.

About 12:25 p.m. Sacramento Metro firefighters were dispatched to 7275 East Southgate Drive on complaints of a strong odor at Florin Medical Center.
